Your first careful GO trade on Collectrio

Before you open the board

Confirm friend distance / registration state, specials remaining, and whether either of you needs Lucky. Write one decision sentence: “I need this Dex hole” or “I want Trade bait liquidity” or “I need a Raids investor.” That sentence picks Dex, Trade bait, or Raids on /go. If this is a true first trade with heavy dust, bias toward names worth the tax — Elite or High on your lens — not filler. Tax deep-dive: /guides/go-special-trade-tax.

Step 1 — Unlock with one honest trio

On /go, pick three names you actually might move or hold. Assign Train, Trade, and Transfer — one each. Submit. That unlocks the session board. How rankings work: /how-rankings-work. Starter mindset: /guides/starter-go-dex.

Example shape: Train a raid attacker you invest, Trade a shiny duplicate you would move, Transfer a junk IV non-shiny. That teaches the board and unlocks /go/rankings without flattery.

Step 2 — Read the board for your lens

Open /go/rankings. Note Elite and High names near what you can offer. Check trend but do not chase bumps — /guides/trend-without-noise. Off board means wrong comparable set for this lens; switch lens or pick other names. Column literacy: /guides/reading-the-board.

Framework pass: conviction (Dex trophies), liquidity (Trade bait), utility (Raids). /guides/ranking-frameworks.

• Dex for holes and shinies you care about.
• Trade bait for what partners want.
• Raids for dust invest decisions.

Step 3 — Draft on the calculator

Open /go/calculator. Load give and get. Set quantities. Use Lucky only if the trade will be lucky or you are modeling a known lucky. Needs XL if XL candy gates Train value for the receiver. Share the link with your partner. Agree you are looking at Collectrio closeness, not dollars — /guides/why-not-a-price-list.

Step 4 — Apply game constraints

If unregistered, ask whether the dust cost is worth this package tonight. If special-required, ask whether the shiny/legendary is worth the daily special. If both constraints hit, prefer waiting or splitting. Collectrio cannot see your friend level — you must overlay tax on the number.

Transfer remaining clutter after the trade if storage is tight — cleanup philosophy: /guides/box-cleanup-philosophy. Do not Transfer the only copy of a Dex hole you still need.

Step 5 — Execute and re-rank if needed

After the trade, if your feelings changed — you now Train what you received, or you would Transfer what failed — rank a new trio reflecting that. Boards move with real votes. Public persistence depends on the live API; your session unlock is local to the browser contribution flow described on /how-rankings-work.

Common first-trade mistakes

Using Raids ranks to justify a trophy shiny deal. Marking Lucky early to force fairness. Ignoring registration dust. Burning a special on mid Trade bait because Discord said so. Treating Transfer as an insult in chat. Skipping the unlock trio and arguing from screenshots of locked UI.

A minimal careful script

Sentence → lens → trio unlock → rankings skim → calculator draft → tax check → share link → execute or delay. That is enough for a first careful trade. Everything else is optional depth for later nights on collectrio.com/go.

Scripts for common first-trade shapes

Mirror shiny swap after registration: use Trade bait, load one-for-one on /go/calculator, keep Lucky plain unless lucky, and skip special drama if neither side needs it. If dust still stings, wait — mirrors will still exist tomorrow. Dex only enters if one shiny fills a hole the other already completed.

Regional for regional on a first registered trade: still Trade bait for fairness, Dex for personal clearance. Do not burn a special on a regional unless the game requires it. Rank a trio that includes at least one regional so your session board is not guessing from unrelated Elite legendaries.

Legendary special on a first-ever unregistered trade: usually a bad night unless both of you planned the dust. Prefer paying registration with strong non-special Trade bait first, then schedule the special. /guides/go-special-trade-tax is mandatory reading here. If you proceed anyway, mark Needs XL honestly and accept that calculator fairness does not refund stardust.

Aftercare: screenshot or keep the share link, execute in game, then Transfer clutter that the trade freed space to judge. Do not Transfer the received Dex hole. Trust and verification checklist

Verify the friend’s in-game name, distance band, and specials remaining before you open Collectrio. Verify IVs and moves yourself in GO — Collectrio proxies will not show appraisal screens. Verify the Collectrio share link modifiers match what you said in chat. Only then travel or spend the dust.

If anything drifts mid-session — special already used, lucky friends not ready, wrong form selected — stop and rebuild the calculator. A careful first trade is allowed to be slow. Speed is how people burn registration tax on the wrong mon.
